About Cuttack

Cuttack, the former capital and one of the oldest cities of Orissa is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is also known as the 'Millennium City', is the cultural capital of Orissa.

The town is situated at the apex of the delta formed by the rivers Mahanadi in the North and Kathajodi in the South. It serves as a convenient base for touring the various places of interest in the district.

With its world famous unique filigree works in silver, ivory and brass works and textiles of woven silk and cotton, Cuttack is perhaps the grandest showroom of Orissa.

Bhattarika Temple is located on the Mahanadi River, Cuttack

Bhattarika Temple is located on the Mahanadi River, in Sasanga village in the tehsil Baramba, Cuttack district, India. It is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Maa Bhattarika worshipped as a manifestation of Shakti. 

As per the Puranic tradition, Parashurama, facing certain defeat at the hands of Saharasjuna, prayed to Durga who appeared on this spot to impart her divine power to his aid. The festival Pana Sankranti is celebrated here in April, Akshaya Tritiya in May and Dussehra in October.

Singanatha Temple Cuttack
